Microneedling with PRP

What is Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is a cosmetic procedure that combines two techniques to rejuvenate the skin. Microneedling can stimulate the body’s natural healing response and trigger the production of new collagen and elastin fibers.* Meanwhile, PRP therapy uses highly concentrated platelets, growth factors, and other regenerative components from a patient’s own blood for tissue repair and regeneration.

While both of these popular medical spa treatments can be extremely effective on their own, combining them can produce an even greater degree of rejuvenation. The weight loss doctors of Lifestyle Solutions Med Spa are thrilled to add this cutting-edge option to our list of revitalizing non-surgical services.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling With PRP?

The combination of microneedling and PRP can produce a plethora of benefits, as the two treatments complement one another in many ways.* Specifically, microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin, allowing for better absorption of topical substances. When PRP is applied in addition to microneedling, it can penetrate deeper into the skin, maximizing its effectiveness.

As such, microneedling and PRP performed in tandem can dramatically improve the overall texture, tone, and quality of the skin. The procedure can also address various skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Pores
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Hyperpigmentation

As another bonus, microneedling and PRP can be used on several areas of the body, such as the face, neck, and décolletage. Additionally, the depth of the micro-needles can be adjusted to suit your aesthetic goals.

How Is Microneedling With PRP Performed?

On the day of the procedure, a small amount of your blood will be drawn (similar to a regular blood test) and processed using a centrifuge machine to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the rest of the blood components. The PRP will be gently applied to the treatment area, and your provider will guide a handheld device to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. The microneedling channels created with the device often allow for better absorption of the PRP into the skin’s deeper layers.

While most patients find the procedure minimally uncomfortable at most, we can apply a topical anesthetic to mitigate possible discomfort if you wish. After the treatment, we can also use a soothing serum or post-treatment cream to calm your skin. You may experience slight redness, swelling, dryness, or irritation after the session, but these symptoms are typically mild and temporary.

The results of microneedling with PRP often become noticeable within two to four weeks.

We usually recommend a series of three to six treatments, spaced about four to six weeks apart, to encourage your skin to heal and collagen production to thrive.

To preserve results, we advise you to take excellent care of your skin and protect it thoroughly from the sun. If you are interested, a member of our team can help you choose from our list of medical-grade skin care products.
